FastComet started in 2013 and has grown quickly. In this review post, we will detail FastComet’s services, how they performed on our performance benchmarks and speed tests, and our overall ranking of their web hosting services. Note that FastComet also offers WooCommerce, Magento, and Joomla hosting services; however, we will only focus on WordPress hosting in this review.

FastComet WordPress Hosting General Features

FastComet FeaturesIs this good?
Support HoursYes, 24/7 support via live chat.✅ Many hosts provide 24/7 Support, which is what we recommend. You never know when your site is going to go down.
Server LocationsUnited States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Japan, India, and Australia.✅ Fantastic global coverage!
Uptime GuaranteeYes, 99.9%✅ This is relatively standard across web hosts.
SSL IncludedYes✅ SSL is necessary for today's Internet.
Money-Back GuaranteeYes, 45 days✅ 45 days is one of the longest money-back periods - most hosts offer only 30 days.
Email HostingUnlimited email accounts are included, but each account is limited to between 500MB and 2GB of storage.✅ By having email hosting included, you don't have to pay for a separate email hosting plan.
Plan LengthsMonth-to-month, or 1-3 years✅ You get discounts by signing up for a year or multi-year plan.
Backups AvailableYes, daily.✅ Backups are kept for 7 days on Basic and Plus accounts, and 30 days for Extra accounts. 30 days is the most common across WordPress hosts.
Site MigrationsYes, but limited to one transfer on Basic plan and three on Plus and Extra plans.✅ It is easier for the Host to migrate your website than for you to do it on your own.
FirewallYes, Web Application Firewall (WAF)✅ WAF is pretty standard across WordPress hosts.
Malware DetectionYes, Imunify360.✅ Malware detection is also standard and important.

We love that FastComet includes a ton of standard features with its Managed WordPress plans. This includes must-have features such as free SSL Certificates, firewall support, and malware detection. Yet FastComet also includes some premium free features such as 24/7 live chat, 45-day money-back guarantees (most hosts only offer 30 days or less), and server location options throughout the world.

It is also fantastic that FastComet includes unlimited free email hosting accounts. However, we are a bit concerned about the storage space. The Basic plan comes with 500MB of storage, while Plus comes with 1GB, and Extra comes with 2GB. While this storage allocation is okay, you may run out of room on the Basic or Plus plans relatively quickly based on your emailing habits.

If you have a separate email plan through Google as part of Google Workspace, you don’t need to worry about email hosting – Google is your email host. If you want to use FastComet but are concerned about the storage space, you could just get a Google Workspace plan. $6 per month per account gets you 30GB of storage, which is awesome.

  • Regardless of the size of your business, it is important to look professional. Having a custom email domain adds to your professionalism. Which looks more professional to you: mybusiness@gmail.com or info@mybusiness.com? If you said info@mybusiness.com, then we agree with you and that is why email hosting is important. Email hosting allows you to have your own email domain instead of relying on Gmail or another free email provider.

If you have Google Workspace, you probably have your own email domain. In this case, Google is your email host. But if you are just using an @gmail.com email address, it is time to upgrade!

We only have two other minor items to mention. One is that while FastComet offers free daily backups on all WordPress plans, backups are only retained for seven days on the Basic and Plus accounts instead of 30 days on the Extra account. Most other WordPress hosts offer 30-day backup retention periods. The other item is that professional site migrations are limited to three websites for the Plus and Extra accounts. You’ll be charged for any site migrations after the first three that you ask FastComet to perform (you can always migrate it for free yourself).

Both of these items are minor items, but we want to point them out as they can easily be missed. And to some of you out there, these are important things to note.

FastComet uses JetBackup 5 as its backup manager. Just make sure you know that the Basic and Plus WordPress plans only keep daily backups for seven days.

FastComet WordPress Optimization Features

FastComet FeaturesIs this good?
Image OptimizationNo❌ You want image optimization to ensure faster page loading, but this can be achieved with WordPress plug-ins as well.
CDN AccessNo❌ They advertise an integration with Cloudflare, but this integration no longer is supported by Cloudflare. You can still sign up for Cloudlfare and manually connect to your website.
CSS/Javascript MinificationNo❌ Minification improves page loading speeds.
Staging Website allowed?Yes✅ Staging websites allow you to test changes to a website before going live.
HTTP versionsHTTP/2. HTTP/3 is available on the Extra plan.⚠️ HTTP/3 is the latest version.
Data CompressionYes, GZIP. Brotli is also available on the Extra plan.⚠️ Brotli data compression is the latest standard and better than GZIP.
Full Page CachingYes, but only server-level and only on FastCloud Extra plan.⚠️ Full page caching speeds loading times by keeping a cached copy of your web page instead of having to regenerate it every time.

FastComet’s optimization features are a mixed bag. On the one hand, we are impressed that FastComet includes HTTP/3 support, Brotli data compression, full-page caching, and staging websites on the highest-tier Extra plan. This is a full assortment of optimization features that rivals other top-tier providers. Yet, on the other hand, FastComet does not include these features on lower plans, and none of FastComet’s plans include native image optimization or CSS/JavaScript minification. Then again, you can achieve image optimization and CSS/JS minification using plugins, such as LiteSpeed.

More importantly, for global websites, FastComet does not include a CDN, even though FastComet advertises that their plans can use Cloudflare. However, FastComet requires you to sign up for Cloudflare and integrate it yourself. This is no different than any other host that doesn’t include a CDN – anyone can sign up for Cloudflare Basic for free and add it to their WordPress plan.

CDNs are useful if you have international traffic coming to your website. But a CDN is not as important if you only serve local customers. One thing we like about FastComet is that they have server locations in North America, Europe, India, and Asia. Only Hostinger in this price range offers a similar geographic diversity, allowing people throughout the world locate their website closer to their customers.

  • A CDN, or Content Delivery Network, speeds up web loading by keeping copies of your website in various places worldwide, so your international visitors don’t have to wait for data to travel across continents to get to them.

FastComet offers three WordPress Managed Hosting Plans, and they all are reasonably priced. We especially find the prices reasonable considering all of the standard features FastComet includes, as mentioned previously in this review.

Note that the three plans have a visitor count, but it is not a hard count. FastComet notes that they mention the number of visitors based on the resources allocated to each plan, but you don’t get penalized for going over the visitor count (unless you break their Fair Usage guidelines). Plus, each plan comes with unlimited bandwidth.

Screenshot of FastComet's resource allocation tracker.
Although FastComet advertises unlimited bandwidth, they also have Fair Usage Guidelines that apply. In the dashboard, you’ll see that your bandwidth is actually tracked by FastComet.

Otherwise, the only main difference between the three plans is the performance resources allocated: storage space, number of CPU cores, and RAM. Most blogs won’t need more resources than the Basic plan, but more complex websites and e-commerce stores may want to consider getting the Plus or Extra plans, even if they aren’t near the visitor guidelines. Also note that email storage space changes with each plan, as we also previously mentioned.

  • 10GB is plenty for websites that don’t have a ton of high-quality photos and don’t store videos locally. If you are using WebP as your image format – which you should be doing! – then you could have a thousand or two of WebP photos and not need more storage. Also, if you embed video from YouTube or Vimeo, you don’t need to worry about storage either. But if you store your videos locally, and especially if the videos are 1080p or 4K, then you may want to upgrade your storage.

FastComet Performance Tests

As with all of our web hosting reviews, we tested FastComet using our test WordPress website to see how FastComet performs in real life. We ran all of these tests using both the Basic and the Extra WordPress Hosting plans. We wanted to test FastComet’s cheapest plan and their highest-tier WordPress plan to provide you with options.

There are three components to our performance tests: Google Core Web Vitals, GTMetrix Performance, and worldwide speed testing. The results are below; you can see our full test specifications on this page.

  • Google likes fast-loading websites because they provide amazing visitor experiences. These scores show how fast and how smoothly a website loads. The better your score is, the greater chance that Google will increase the search ranking of your page, especially if your competitors score poorly. Google prefers everyone to score 90-100, while 50-89 is ok. A score below 50 is poor.

While part of these scores will depend on how efficient your website is, part of these scores also depend on how fast your web host provider is. Additionally, if your web host provider offers optimization features such as minification, then that will improve your score. You can learn more about these metrics on this Google web page.

FastComet’s Basic Plan performed okay on the Google Core Web Vitals. The LCP score brought down the Basic Plan’s overall performance, with a total performance score of 86. This isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. However, for a beginner plan, 86 is acceptable.

The scores above are not the actual Lighthouse values but rather the scores Lighthouse assigns to each metric. We chose to display these scores instead of the actual values to make comparing scores across web host providers easier. Below is the chart showing the actual Lighthouse values for those of you who are more technically minded.

FastComet’s Extra Plan performed a lot better than the Basic plan on the Google Core Web Vitals. An overall performance score of 91 is quite strong, on par with even top-tier hosts like Rocket.net and WPX. We are impressed!

GTMetrix Performance – Basic Plan

Time to First Byte: 1731ms

First Contentful Paint (FCP): 3.0s

Speed Index (SI): 3.1s

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): 3.1s

Total Load Time: 3.9s

  • As mentioned above, Google likes fast-loading websites because they provide amazing visitor experiences. GTMetrix analyzes and scores web pages using mostly the same criteria as Google Lighthouse. However, GTMetrix allows you to customize the scoring based on location and type of mobile device. GTMetrix also weighs criteria differently than Google itself, providing another opinion on how the user experiences your website loading.

We used three scores from GTMetrix that match Lighthouse for comparison: FCP, SI, and LCP. We then added the Time to First Byte (TTFB) because many people are interested in this score. Finally, we also added the total fully loaded time to measure a complete loading.

Based on GTMetrix’s documentation, there are how the scores measure:

    • TTFB: Good is less than 800ms and bad is above 1800ms.
    • FCP: Good is less than 0.9 seconds and bad is above 1.6 seconds.
    • SI: Good is less than 1.3 seconds and bad is above 2.3 seconds.
    • LCP: Good is less than 1.2 seconds and bad is above 2.4 seconds.
    • Total Load Time: GTMetrix doesn’t have a score chart for this, but based on our own testing, less than three seconds is good and over five seconds is bad.

You can learn more about these metrics on this GTMetrix web page.

FastComet’s Basic Plan did not score well on our GTMetrix tests. We didn’t expect it to do well as it is a basic WordPress plan without a CDN. However, the Basic Plan did quite a bit worse than other beginner plans like Hostinger and KnownHost. This is even true in North America, where we hosted our website with FastComet. TTFB scores were still quite high for Chicago, San Francisco, and Vancouver.

Much like other WordPress hosts that don’t use CDNs, FastComet’s performance isn’t great outside of the region that you are hosting, even on the Extra Plan. For example, we hosted our website with FastComet’s New Jersey servers. Thus, it is no surprise that within North America, FastComet’s Extra plan performed quite well and was a lot better than the Basic Plan. We appreciate FastComet’s performance in North America because FastComet has server locations worldwide. Thus, your website can perform well no matter where you are located.

As noted previously, FastComet has server locations throughout North America, Europe, India, and Asia. As long as you serve customers within your region, you can base your website on the FastComet server closest to your customer base, and you will be fine. However, if you serve a global audience, you will want to add Cloudflare’s CDN or, better yet, get a WordPress plan that includes a CDN already. We love GoDaddy, Rocket.net, and WPX for websites that want a powerful CDN for global audiences.

Worldwide Load Testing – Basic Plan

Unfortunately, the Basic Plan failed between 95-100% of the time during our load testing across all worldwide locations. Thus, we couldn’t generate meaningful results. This also means that if your website is generating any sort of intense traffic – including any spikes in traffic – the Basic Plan most likely won’t be able to serve those customers. That would be unfortunate.

Worldwide Load Testing – Extra Plan

The Global Load Test results mirror the GTMetrix Extra Plan results in that North American locations performed extremely well, but times got slower the further away from New Jersey. Again, this is due to FastComet not using a CDN. Having said that, the load test times are quite impressive for all locations, considering there is no CDN. We expect each specific location’s performance to vary based on which FastComet server location you choose, with nearby locations performing well and speed decreasing as you go further away.

Our FastComet WordPress Review Recommendation

Who is FastComet for?

✅ People with customers located in the same region as their business.
✅ Beginner and Mid-Tier WordPress websites.
✅ We really recommend the Extra plan over the lower-tier plans.
❌ *Not* for businesses with customers throughout the world or those who need a top-tier CDN.

FastComet is an entry-level WordPress hosting provider that offers an impressive array of features and resources at competitive prices. Their managed WordPress hosting plans include a comprehensive set of standard features such as free SSL certificates, firewall support, and malware detection, as well as some premium features like 24/7 live chat support and 45-day money-back guarantees. Additionally, with server location options in North America, Europe, India, and Asia, FastComet makes it easy for website owners to cater to their customers’ needs based on their geographical location.

While FastComet’s optimization features are a mixed bag, they do offer HTTP/3 support, Brotli data compression, full-page caching, and staging websites on their top-tier Extra plan. However, they don’t provide native image optimization, CSS/JavaScript minification, or a CDN. Our real-world testing of the Basic plan did not go well, and we wouldn’t recommend getting the Basic plan unless you are hosting a simple, personal blog.

On the other hand, we’d recommend the Extra plan for someone with customers in the same region and looking for reliable WordPress hosting with a wide range of features and resources to support their website, all at an affordable price point. Still, you should consider other lower-to-mid-tier hosting options, such as Hostinger, KnownHost, and even WPX, if you have multiple websites.
