If we could sum up WPBuzz in one word, it would be “simplicity.” Not that WPBuzz offers a simple WordPress hosting plan – quite the opposite, WPBuzz has many amazing features that higher-end web hosts also include. But unlike other hosting providers that offer a myriad of plans and contract options, WPBuzz only offers two plans: a plan for one website and a plan for up to 50 websites. You don’t need to spend hours guessing which plan is best for you.

Yet, does it live up to its hype? In this review post, we will detail WPBuzz’s services, how they performed on our performance benchmarks and speed tests, and our overall ranking of their web hosting services.

WPBuzz WordPress General Features

WPBuzz FeaturesIs this good?
Support HoursEmail support, but it is not 24/7❌ Many hosts provide 24/7 Support, which is what we recommend. You never know when your site is going to go down.
Server LocationsUnited States and United Kingdom✅ Plus over 20 CDN servers located throughout the world.
Uptime Guarantee99.99%✅ This is relatively standard across web hosts.
SSL IncludedYes✅ SSL is necessary for today's Internet.
Money-Back GuaranteeYes, 30 days✅ This is relatively standard across web hosts.
Email HostingIncluded up to 10GB per email account✅ By having email hosting included, you don't have to pay for a separate email hosting plan.
Plan LengthsMonthly or annually
Backups AvailableYes, Daily Backup✅ Backups are kept for 30 days
Site MigrationsYes✅ It is easier for the Host to migrate your website than for you to do it on your own.
FirewallYes, Web Application Firewall (WAF).
Malware DetectionYes

WPBuzz started in 2018 with the goal of making “Premium WordPress hosting…affordable and accessible for everyone.” To that point, WPBuzz offers many features for less than $10/month for one website, which we appreciate. They offer web hosting in the United States and the United Kingdom, plus their own Content Delivery Network (CDN) with over 20 locations worldwide. Plus, we appreciate that WPBuzz includes free email hosting for everyone, including unlimited 10GB accounts. This is an amazing value!

  • Regardless of the size of your business, it is important to look professional. Having a custom email domain adds to your professionalism. Which looks more professional to you: mybusiness@gmail.com or info@mybusiness.com? If you said info@mybusiness.com, then we agree with you and that is why email hosting is important. Email hosting allows you to have your own email domain instead of relying on Gmail or another free email provider.

If you have Google Workspace, you probably have your own email domain. In this case, Google is your email host. But if you are just using an @gmail.com email address, it is time to upgrade!

However, we are disappointed that WPBuzz does not offer 24/7 support. Most large web hosts offer 24/7 support nowadays. We believe receiving support around the clock is crucial, as you never know when your site will go down or break. In fact, this was one of our hesitations when deciding whether to host our own WordPress sites on WPBuzz and why we went with Rocket.net instead.

Having said that, we contacted WPBuzz support several times during our testing, and each time, they answered us relatively quickly. WPBuzz also provided great support by working with us on our problems and finding solutions. Thus, while we prefer having the option of 24/7 support, WPBuzz gets high marks from us on their support team.

WPBuzz Optimization Features

WPBuzz FeaturesIs this good?
Image OptimizationYes✅ You want image optimization to ensure faster page loading, but this can be achieved with WordPress plug-ins as well.
CDN AccessYes, WPBuzz CDN✅ 20+ locations across the world.
CSS/Javascript MinificationYes✅ Minification improves page loading speeds.
Staging Website allowed?Yes, but staging site does not include a CDN or optimizations.✅ Staging websites allow you to test changes to a website before going live.
HTTP versionsHTTP/2❌ HTTP/3 is the latest version.
Data CompressionYes, GZIP.⚠️ Brotli data compression is the latest standard and better than GZIP.
Full Page CachingYes✅ Full page caching speeds CDN loading times by keeping a cached copy of your web page on the local CDN.

WPBuzz offers a ton of performance features, especially for its price. We especially liked WPBuzz’s control panel, where it was easy to turn on and off various optimization features, such as image optimization, minification, and site caching. WPBuzz even notes the risk level of each optimization – how likely it is to break your website – so you can prepare beforehand.

WPBuzz’s easy-to-follow risk levels guide helps you determine which settings you can turn on without risking your website breaking.

Note each option has the risk level clearly defined.

Speaking of which, even on the one website plan, WPBuzz offers a free staging site for your website. Staging sites are important because they allow you to test changes to your website before they go live, meaning you can fix and tweak things before your sales get impacted. Some web hosts don’t allow a free staging site, meaning you must pay for an extra site to test things. We appreciate WPBuzz adding this in for free. However, note that the staging website does not include optimizations or a CDN, so you’ll have to use the live site to see the real-world performance of your website.

We also appreciated WPBuzz offering their CDN for free. While it is not as robust as Cloudflare – especially Cloudflare Enterprise on GoDaddy and Rocket.net – WPBuzz has at least one CDN point on each continent (except Antarctica), including multiple points in the United States and Europe. WPBuzz writes on its website that it offers many more features than the Cloudflare free plan. While this is true, some, if not all, of these features may be provided by your WordPress host provider. Keep this in mind when comparing features.

  • A CDN, or Content Delivery Network, speeds up web loading by keeping copies of your website in various places worldwide, so your international visitors don’t have to wait for data to travel across continents to get to them.

WPBuzz offers both static edge caching and dynamic caching on its CDN.

As we mentioned in the beginning, one of WPBuzz’s strong points is the simplicity of its plan offerings. WPBuzz only offers two plans, with only one difference: the number of websites. The lower plan – Go Buzz – is for one website, while the higher Pro Buzz offers up to 50 websites. Hosting 50 websites for less than $13/month on an annual contract is an amazing deal, one of the best out there, even if you only have a handful of websites. However, you’ll want to compare to the multi-site deals offered by WPX.

WPBuzz also offers unlimited storage and visitors for its WordPress hosting plans. Most other providers offer different plan tiers with varying levels of storage and visitors (or bandwidth), making you have to guess how much you will need. And then, if your business grows or traffic spikes to your website, you’ll be penalized for exceeding the limit. WPBuzz eliminates the guesswork and the growth penalty by making everything unlimited. We love this!

  • 10GB is plenty for websites that don’t have a ton of high-quality photos and don’t store videos locally. If you are using WebP as your image format – which you should be doing! – then you could have a thousand or two of WebP photos and not need more storage. Also, if you embed video from YouTube or Vimeo, you don’t need to worry about storage either. But if you store your videos locally, and especially if the videos are 1080p or 4K, then you may want to upgrade your storage.

WPBuzz WordPress Performance Tests

As with all of our web hosting reviews, we tested WPBuzz using our test WordPress website to see how WPBuzz performs in real life. We ran all of these tests using the Go Buzz one website plan, but it offers the same performance as the Pro Buzz 50-website plan. There are three components: Google Core Web Vitals, GTMetrix Performance, and worldwide speed testing. The results are below.

Google Core Web Vitals – Lighthouse Scores

Total Performance Score

  • Google likes fast-loading websites because they provide amazing visitor experiences. These scores show how fast and how smoothly a website loads. The better your score is, the greater chance that Google will increase the search ranking of your page, especially if your competitors score poorly. Google prefers everyone to score 90-100, while 50-89 is ok. A score below 50 is poor.

While part of these scores will depend on how efficient your website is, part of these scores also depend on how fast your web host provider is. Additionally, if your web host provider offers optimization features such as minification, then that will improve your score. You can learn more about these metrics on this Google web page.

Like all of our other reviews, we placed our test website on WPBuzz’s servers and tested it through Google Page Speed. WPBuzz’s results were at the top, matching Lighthouse scores from the other top two contenders, Rocket.net and WPX. This is excellent performance from WPBuzz!

However, the scores above are from a page with optimized WebP images already. For pages with unoptimized images, we found a quirk with WPBuzz’s image optimization software. We originally ran a page full of unoptimized JPEG images hosted on WPBuzz through Lighthouse. Unfortunately, those results were not great at all.

After discussing the results with WPBuzz support, the main problem was image optimization. While WPBuzz’s servers were delivering optimized images, Google Lighthouse was not capturing this and instead displaying the unoptimized JPEGs. WPBuzz support could not figure out why this was occurring other than to note that the optimized WebP images are being displayed in real life.

If you are using unoptimized images – especially JPEGs – this is a flaw and takes away one of the reasons to go with WPBuzz. However, if you convert your images to WebP or another optimized format, then WPBuzz’s image optimization won’t matter since you are already optimized. But this is something to consider if you use JPEGs or other large image formats on your WordPress site. The scores above and below are based on pages with optimized WebP images.

Lighthouse MetricRaw ValueLighthouse Score
First Contentful Paint (FCP)1.4 seconds96

GTMetrix Performance

Time to First Byte: 751ms

First Contentful Paint (FCP): 1.7s

Speed Index (SI): 2.1s

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): 2.2s

Total Load Time: 2.4s

  • As mentioned above, Google likes fast-loading websites because they provide amazing visitor experiences. GTMetrix analyzes and scores web pages using mostly the same criteria as Google Lighthouse. However, GTMetrix allows you to customize the scoring based on location and type of mobile device. GTMetrix also weighs criteria differently than Google itself, providing another opinion on how the user experiences your website loading.

We used three scores from GTMetrix that match Lighthouse for comparison: FCP, SI, and LCP. We then added the Time to First Byte (TTFB) because many people are interested in this score. Finally, we also added the total fully loaded time to measure a complete loading.

Based on GTMetrix’s documentation, there are how the scores measure:

    • TTFB: Good is less than 800ms and bad is above 1800ms.
    • FCP: Good is less than 0.9 seconds and bad is above 1.6 seconds.
    • SI: Good is less than 1.3 seconds and bad is above 2.3 seconds.
    • LCP: Good is less than 1.2 seconds and bad is above 2.4 seconds.
    • Total Load Time: GTMetrix doesn’t have a score chart for this, but based on our own testing, less than three seconds is good and over five seconds is bad.

You can learn more about these metrics on this GTMetrix web page.

WPBuzz’s performance was good overall, with some spectacular locations. We were impressed with WPBuzz’s fully loaded times of less than two seconds in several locations. That is incredibly fast! Additionally, many other locations had fully loaded times of less than three seconds, which is good, in our opinion.

Overall, WPBuzz’s GTMetrix scores are great, but top-tier providers Rocket.net and WPX performed better if you need top-tier performance. You will want to study the scores by location and decide based on where your customers are located.

Worldwide Load Testing

Unfortunately, we were unable to perform a Worldwide Load Test on WPBuzz. When we attempted to perform the load test, WPBuzz blocked our traffic. This is not necessarily bad, as it means that WPBuzz is highly sensitive to DDoS attacks and blocks them immediately. That is great!

Our WPBuzz WordPress Review Recommendation

Who is WPBuzz for?

✅ People or Agencies hosting multiple websites and want the best bang for their buck.
✅ People with already-optimized WebP images on their website.
❌ *Not* for someone wanting 24/7 support.

We are torn on our overall recommendation about WPBuzz. On the one hand, WPBuzz has a lot going for it. Simple pricing, combined with an excellent value plan for up to 50 websites, is quite attractive. We love that WPBuzz includes unlimited storage and visitors in both of its plans, so you need not worry about overages or guessing about future growth. WPBuzz has many excellent performance features, including a simple-to-use optimization control panel to fine-tune your website’s performance.

Yet, we did not like that one of WPBuzz’s main optimization features – image optimization – did not work when using Google Page Speed Test. While the optimized images loaded in real life, Google Page Speed used unoptimized images for its scoring algorithm. This is a problem because if Google thinks your website is slow – even if it is not – that will hurt your SEO rankings. Now, this isn’t a fatal blow, as you can optimize images yourself or use one of several WordPress plugins for automatic image optimization. But a disappointment nonetheless.

Yet, if you are running multiple websites with already-optimized WebP images, WPBuzz is hard to beat in terms of monthly cost compared to performance value. However, if you are looking at WPBuzz for help with the performance issues of your website or just need hosting for a single website, you may want to look elsewhere. Consider KnownHost or Hostinger for cheap but solid WordPress hosting or Rocket.net and WPX for top-tier WordPress hosting.
